Local Medieval to Victorian Sickness and Health

On 7th August 2017 Warboys Local History Society held it Monthly Meeting at the Methodist Church, High Street Wayboys.

It was the turn of one of the members Joan Bennet to give a talk on Local Medieval to Victorian Sickness and health. The talk was based on various talks and lecturers attended by Joan over the years, and included the Fen Ague, leprosy and smallpox. It was a well illustrated talk and some very interesting discoveries of medical practices and locations in Warboys Area. Most of the medical services started when the Abbeys, especially Ramsey were dissolved in the time of Henry V111. The then population had to set up their own facilities.

The next meeting is at the same venue on 4th September 2017 and is a talk by Stuart Orme of Peterborough on ‘The Women of Peterborough’.
