The Seat which has the inscription: “Lest we forget…In Memory of all those who died 1914 – 1918” also has an additional 2 names inscribed on it. They are Sydney Cooper and Thomas Amps both of whom have War Graves in Warboys Church Cemetry. Sydney Cooper’s name should have been there originally but was omitted in error.
The Service, attended by Captain Victor Lucas RN, Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire, closely followed that of the original held Thursday 21 July 1921. The service was led by Canon Michael Wadsworth assisted by Nigel Graham the Minister of Warboys Grace Baptist Church.
Pupils from Warboys Community Primary School attended and read out the names of all the men now listed from World War 1, World War 2 and the Korean War.
A 2 minutes silence was kept in remembrance and the Last Post and Reveille sounded.
After the service, refreshments (including Trench Cake) were served in the Parish Centre by ladies from the Royal British Legion.
At the Memorial Service, the Seat is under the Union Jack.
